Here are some of the projects we've worked on lately. Some are big, some are small, all are treated with the care and professionalism they deserve.
Description:PrayerNook.com is a Christian social site where people of faith can send and receive prayers from their prayer partners.
Technologies used:Liferay 6.2 CE using Vaadin 7. written in Groovy
Growing the Grove Property
Description:This is a real estate listing site of commercial property available in the Cottage Grove area that was built in tandem with the Growing the Grove website.
Technologies used:Open Realty
Bohemia Mining Days
Description:Bohemia Mining Days is our local summer time festival, celebrating the gold rush era that founded towns like Cottage Grove, Oregon. Their website was a sad thing, and Lillibolero along with Kizmetech built them a nice little Wordpress site to commemorate the State of Oregon's 150th anniversary. It included event guides, maps, forms for vendors and thos who wished to participate in the parade, all the usual festival sort of stuff.
Technologies used:Wordpress, MySQL
Description:Tahoe Social was a startup to create a social search engine for the Lake Tahoe Basin. The goal was to create a 'one stop shop' for everything a visitor to the area might want to know including business pages and reviews, travel information and arrangements to hiking and recreation guides.
Technologies used:Liferay 6.1, Tomcat, Vaadin, Velocity, MySQL, MongoDB, Sencha
Notes:This went the way of most startups. Lessons learned: start small, get it out fast, do it with someone else's money. :-(
Description:Manufacturing Solutions Innovation is a company that specializes in actuators and drive motors manufactured in China. They needed a B2B site to display their current line actuators as well as advertise their custom manufacturing services.
Technologies used:Joomla, MySQL
Growing The Grove
This was a website commisioned by a partnership between the City of Cottage Grove, the Cottage Grove Area Chamber of Commerce, and the Economic & Business Improvement District with the purpose of attracting businesses to the Cottage Grove area. Our friends at Kizmetech did most of the design work while Lillibolero did the back end .
Technologies used:Wordpress, MySQL
Cottage Grove Public Library
Description:In 2005 our small rural library needed help. They had a bank of Windows based public Internet terminals where you could see all the latest trends in malware and porn, given that you could get them to boot at all, and a website from the mid 90's . Since this was a volunteer project and support time was hard to come by, Lillibolero flushed those old Windows installs, removed the hard drives from the desktop terminals and built a Linux Terminal Server Project install. Network infrastructure had to be built or configured first, but for surprisingly little money we got 10 public terminals up and running that have over the years logged around 25000 logins annually, with very little downtime. The website was not a Lillibolero creation, though we did advise on that. It has been hosted by http://plinkit.org for the last 8 years. Many thanks to them and the state of Oregon for footing the bill. We have also built small Groovy on Grails apps that the library has run internally for special events and installations.
Technologies used:LTSP, Ubuntu, Plone, Groovy on Grails
Notes:This is an ongoing project. I can't begin to say enough good things about the Cottage Grove Public Library or its staff, and it's amazing how much programming they bring in for their patrons given their size and budget.
Description:MyLivingDays.com was a Liferay 6.0 portal based baby boomer lifestyle site. This project required custom Java and Groovy portlets and Lillibolero oversaw development for J2EE based Liferay portal mylivingdays.com .
Technologies used:Liferay, J2EE, JBoss servlet container, HTML, CSS, JSP, Java, Groovy, Velocity
Notes:This was a fun project. The Groovy portlets were a quick way to get a portlet built, though now that Liferay has better support for other JVM languages I see less of a use for them. This was Liferay 6.0 and in retrospect, Liferay gets better with each point release. Take that for what you will.
South Lane County Fire and Rescue
South Lane County Fire and Rescue are the fire and rescue for Cottage Grove, Creswell, Lorane and others in south Lane County Oregon. With the help of LightWeb Design Lillibolero rebuilt their website as part of a community outreach project, and also to give the SLCFR staff an internal portal for training schedules, etc. .
